Join over a billion people from China and neighboring countries in celebrating the greatest holiday in East Asian culture - while staying right here in Lake Norman!
Lake Norman Tai Chi Center will be hosting its annual Chinese New Year's Festival on Saturday, March 6, from 1:30pm to 4pm. It's fun for the whole family and it's FREE.
The festival will begin with the ceremonial Lion Dance meant to bring good luck to participants for the coming year. Then throughout the afternoon you can enjoy exciting demonstrations of Tai Chi and participate in mini-classes.
Local experts will be on hand to demonstrate and talk about Asian arts and practices such as feng shui, bonsai, calligraphy and acupuncture. We will also have light refreshments with premium quality tea supplied by Urbana CitySpa and TeaBar located in Birkdale Village.
In China, Taiwan and Vietnam where the holiday is celebrated weeks of preparation take place, including cleaning, cooking and making travel arrangements so entire extended families can be together.
Here in Lake Norman and Charlotte, the Asian population has grown rapidly in recent years and the holiday remains an important part of their lives. Various Asian ethnic associations now have their own celebrations and events around Charlotte. Lake Norman Tai Chi Center's celebration is open to everyone and is particularly designed for Americans looking for the chance to discover some of the wonders of authentic Asian culture.
Additional festival highlights include ongoing raffle drawings for assorted prizes, and special festival discounts for joining the classes offered at Lake Norman Tai Chi Center including tai chi, qigong, yoga and meditation.
For more information, you can view the flyer.
Come and join us as we celebrate the 12th Annual World Tai Chi and Qigong Day to educate our community and the world to the wonders of Tai Chi.
Tai Chi is believed to
Lake Norman Tai Chi Center will offer a free Tai Chi class to enable those who have not learned any Tai Chi or Qigong to learn a few movements so they can join in as well. Our goal is to spread the art of Tai Chi to educate all to the amazing benefits Tai Chi and Qigong offers us and our community.
I want to make this event special for our school, so I've deemed Saturday April 24th as Bring Your Friends, Family, Neighbors, Co-workers and Enemies to Tai Chi Class Day. Everyone can benefit from Tai Chi and I want as many people as possible to experience those benefits. If you know someone who has an interest in Tai Chi ... bring them, if you know someone who needs some stress relief ... bring them, if you know someone who needs to relax ... bring them. In fact, if you know someone ... BRING THEM!!
During this special class you will learn Qigong exercises, breathing techniques and a short Tai Chi form that takes movements and postures from our Chang Style Tai Chi Chuan solo form. It'll be fun, informative and we get to participate in a world-wide event! How cool is that?
You can bring as many guests as you want (your guests can bring guests too). There will be a drawing of all the guests for a $25 gift card to Urbana CitySpa & TeaBar. Each guest will also receive a VIP Pass good for a free month of Tai Chi classes. That's right one month of Tai Chi classes at no cost or obligation.
P.S.: Registration starts at 1:00, so get there early to register.
P.P.S.: All guests must be aged 14 or older and should wear comfortable clothing (loose pants and t-shirt) and sneakers (no sandals please).
