Check out this month's Tai Chi Special. Quick, it expires February 28.
Nestled in the outskirts of Cornelius, North Carolina is Lake Norman Tai Chi Center teaching students the ancient art of Tai Chi Chuan. Tai Chi (its more common name) is a unique form of "moving meditation" that calms your mind, relaxes your body and strengthens your spirit. Much of Tai Chi is practiced slowly and gently, ideal for people of all ages and health conditions.
Though most people take up Tai Chi for its tremendous health benefits through its gentle, focused movements. Others are intrigued by the fact that Tai Chi is actually a highly-effective martial art where emphasis is placed on cultivating "chi," or internal energy, as opposed to simply developing muscle mass and brute force.
For centuries Chinese people have practiced this life-enhancing art and today, millions more around the world have joined them. Whether you choose this art for health, self-defense, or both, you'll quickly discover how much calmer and more at peace you feel.
Many studies have been done over the years that show the benefits of Tai Chi to your health and well-being. The studies include such diverse topics as longevity , tension headaches , bone density , mood and self-esteem , and much more.
Tai Chi has many benefits. Here are just a few:
Lake Norman Tai Chi Center is the only Martial Arts school in the Lake Norman area that primarily teaches the art of Tai Chi Chuan. We have an extensive curriculum that covers all aspects of Tai Chi. Starting with our fundamentals, qigong, and open hand forms at the beginner levels. Then flowing into push hands, partner forms, weapons forms, and martial applications at the intermediate to advanced levels.
Each class includes students at all levels of training. After a series of group activities, the class is divided depending on what block level you are training in. The student will then train on wherever they are in the curriculum. This structure allows the instructor to give each student personal attention and guidance, correcting as needed, giving insight into the movements, and instructing on what comes next.
As a traditional Chinese Martial Arts school, everyone at Lake Norman Tai Chi Center is part of a large Kung Fu Family. We look out for each other, help each other, and train with each other. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or an advanced student, we all can learn something from each other. Even the instructors have been known to learn a thing or two from their students.
Whether you're a college student looking for mental focus for studying, a busy executive looking for stress management due to a hectic schedule, an athlete looking to achieve peak performance, a work-at-home or stay-at-home parent wanting superior health and fitness or anybody who wants a healthy body, focused mind and positive spirit, you will find no better than the Chinese Martial Art of Tai Chi Chuan to help you achieve and maintain your goals.
Our head instructor, Sifu Dale Guadagna, and Tai Chi Instructor Dale Saufley, are both certified Tai Chi Instructors who learned their craft and earned their certification under the tutelage of Master Eric Sbarge at The Peaceful Dragon. Their philosophy is that each and every student is capable of a high level of mastery of the arts, no matter what their skill level. In addition, they believe that each student should be treated with respect, dignity, and equality regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion, political views, and philosophies on life, the universe, and everything.
